Dating Around is the first original dating series that Netflix has produced. Each episode of the series follows one person going on five blind dates, with dates including people of various races and sexual orientations. Note that you should also watch the Avatar show of the same name to pick up on all the easter eggs, references, and worldbuilding present in Korra to fully appreciate its yuri elements. Both shows are available on Netflix and are a great fantasy romp if you’re looking for drama and comedy in a single neat package.
This game-changing show by Ryan Murphy – the creator of Nip/Tuck and Glee – stands apart as the sexual identity of many of its characters is not labelled in this tale of a very ambitious high school student. Payton, played by Ben Platt, is determined to be president of the USA but is challenged at the first hurdle, becoming president of his High School in sunny LA. He’s got his sights set on Harvard, but some of his fellow classmates don’t want him to get there.
Luke And Victoria
“Happy Holidays from my girlfriend and I who isn’t pictured bc she’s not in the picture," she captioned a recent photo on Instagram. Luke is a real estate broker in NYC, who is just looking for love. “I definitely want a family," he says on the show, “and create a life with someone else." You could spend your time watching the best shows to binge on Netflix, but sometimes, we really all just need that dating programming, and a lot of ridiculousness to make us smile. Trust me, if you watch any of these shows, you will have a grand experience. This Australian reality show is all about couples – and the chance to begin again.

Clad in their sexiest swimwear, these singles are coupled up with fellow islanders and tasked with establishing a connection — and hopefully winning some cash while they’re at it. Periodically, couples will get to recouple to develop new connections as more people are added — and removed — from the villa. Just like the UK version, these islanders leave their fate in the hands of viewers, who vote to determine whether they’ll stay for love or vacate the villa, absolutely heartbroken. Luke and Victoria are featured in the first episode of the show. Luke is a gentleman with classy and appealing looks working in the real estate industry.
If you haven’t watched Russell T. Davies’ It’s A Sin yet, then what are you waiting for? The show follows a group of young adults who move to London in the early ‘80s during the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic when little was known about the virus. It gives a snapshot of the young, gay men whose lives were turned upside down during this period – and is at once fun and poignant as the action chronicles the plight of characters who fall victim to AIDS.
The series’ format feels similar to options like American Idol. There are live auditions in different cities, only some move on to compete again, etc. Unsigned rappers are judged both on their vocal ability and their stage presence as they step up and perform. Some of them are largefriends.com chatting stellar, but the show really gets its strength from its big-name judges (and guest judges — the great Snoop Dogg weighs in during the first episode). When Cardi B shares that she’s looking for “one of us," it means something, and it helps us to completely invest in the ride.
Every episode follows one dater as they awkwardly make small talk, argue, or hit it off with their five matches, after which they must select one of their suitors who they deem worthy of a second date. For those who haven’t started watching yet, the premise is pretty straight forward; finding love in the big city with little time to waste. They have drinks, dinner, and sometimes, night caps with those they spark with. During the dates, they share appetizers and discuss what they’re looking for in a partner. You have to make it past episode one, though, which features your standard 27-year-old bro having dinner and drinks with five different women. It’s cringe-y and awkward—which may be the point—but things really pick up in episode two.
With Season 2 already announced, it’s more than likely that The Ultimatum should return sometime in 2023, if not before. We’ll update this section once an official premiere date and trailer become available. This show is really something, and while the title at first can be misleading, it’s a lot of fun. Also, never in the realm of dating, Computer Science Professor Ben went out with five women in a bid to find the love of his life. His personality made him endearing, hence creating one of the most memorable stories of the entire season of Dating Around. He had an unforgettable time with Alex, where their conversations were both deep and flirty.
“I have stories for days," Amanda, a 25-year-old public relations manager, tells me before diving into a particularly horrifying account. In the end, Justin chooses Ann, a blonde with a bob who’d been to “too many weddings” that year. Those who watched the first episode were likely surprised that Justin chose Ann, who left the date way earlier than the other women. In the “After Hours” section of the episode, Justin and Ann walk around Bourbon Street when she tells him that she has to work the next morning and orders a Lyft. Justin seems surprised by this as he seems to be enjoying his time with Ann.
What’s the track record like on ‘Dating Around’?
Reality TV shows revolving around the idea of romance usually focus on matchmaking, and a lot of times, contestants have to either get married or commit to a person at the very least. DATING AROUND is an unscripted series that follows six singles as they go on a series of blind dates to see if they are able to make a connection. Each episode features a person who has been set up with five different people. The two meet at a nice, trendy restaurant, have drinks, and then move on to dinner. They also have the option of having a few after dinner libations and continue their conversations. After the five dates are over, the single person chooses which of the five people they will invite on another date.
