The branch operated out of a temporary location at a Smith’s Food & Drug Center parking lot at 828 South 900 West. To spearhead a drive for a new Main Library, the Friends of the Library was established. The group proved successful with the approval of a $2.5 million bond for construction.

The Anderson-Foothill Branch Library expansion and remodeling added 5,700 square-feet to the building, provided an expanded children’s area and a community meeting room. Tax increment is the increase (or “increment”) in the property taxes generated within a project area, over and above property taxes generated in that same area prior to the establishment of the RDA project area.

The Free Public Library, as it was known, served as the main depository of Salt Lake City until October 1964, when the Main Library building on 200 East and 500 South was completed. At that time, still bound by the terms of Mr. Packard’s gift, the old library building was renovated by the Mr. and Mrs. George T. Hansen Foundation as a planetarium and space science library. The unique, liberal arts WCore courses that every Westminster student takes as a part of their studies are extremely valuable to business students. WCore classes focus on synthesis, communication, and research, helping you develop the skills crucial for relating to the people and world around you. Service learning is a credit-bearing, faculty-directed, teaching-learning experience that is course specific.

The name honors both the late Library Director, J. Dennis Day, and the Jordan River site. In the 1960s, the Library Board of Directors agreed to a community drive for a branch in the Rose Park area. The City Library will celebrate diversity ensuring that all members of the community are welcome, accepted, and included, enabling them to fulfill their full potential.

The School will nurture, without exception, the values of individual accomplishment and independence. Since individual creativity is integral to the production of art, SLSPA faculty and staff will work with students individually and collectively to stimulate intellectual, artistic, and technical originality. By providing such an environment, SLSPA will strive to graduate people who can work independently and creatively. Student Leadership Council, sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, empowers students with the resources, training, and experiences to develop into servant leaders, through VA core values, and a lifetime commitment to service.
